Labour market, welfare and education

Current themes in the labour economics research at the Frisch Centre include entrepeneurship, sick leave, disability benefits, immigration, labour market integration and educational attainment for the children of immigrants.

The empirical basis for the research in labour economics is the use of administrative register data which makes it possible to analyze the movement of the population between changing affiliations to the labour market. The emphasis is on combining methodological development with policy relevant applications. The research is mainly financed from major programmes at the Research Council of Norway, including "Welfare, Working Life and Migration" and "Sickness absence, work and health", as well as long-term projects for the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs. We are also involved with research under the programme for the "Evaluation of the Pension Reform" at the research council, where the focus is the effects of the reform on labour market participation.
