Project description

The project will analyse negotiated environmental agreements between the government and the industry from an economic perspective. The advantages and disadvantages of agreements relative to direct regulations are studied. The basic idea is that agreements open up for more flexible arrangements than regulations, for example towards firms that can relocate abroad, but that it also gives the firms more negotiation power. Next, we study sectorial agreements. The project will analyse the impact of such agreements on the firms, whether the agreements are honoured, and if this is the case whether the emission reductions are cost-efficient.
